I think that there are a great many non-profit organizations, but few are effective. The reality is that people are bound to old habits. Introducing the topics conservation, efficiency, etc as something other than radical leftist agenda is extremely challenging. It is a challenge that has not yet been met head on by any organization.
About Me:
I believe that tribalism is holding back a green revolution. In other words republicans do not want to subscribe to green though processes because those are the agenda of their opposition. When the right does come up with a good idea liberals poo poo it for similar reasons. Consider Bush's statement in his first term that hydrogen distribution could be handled well by those who handle our current petro-system. Those who handle our current system understand market forces, profit margins, different distribution mechanisms, etc. They are by far the best qualified for this, yet the left was vehemently opposed, and primarily because "Big Oil" is often viewed as the enemy. With a little effort your enemy can sometimes become your biggest ally. This statement was probably one of the most intelligent from an otherwise lackluster administration.
