Hi all, I am in the process of building an electric car sponsored by my business Mazdas And More in California. I will be a 90 to 92 Mazda MX6. Has anyone done this? It's a very slow process and of course it's been done before, but I want to do it so that I can repeat the process over and over. I will of course be doing this for other as well as I get all the pieces together. It will be a decade or more before we see the government or the auto makers do this. I want to do it now and make it affordable for all. Thanks Paul

Hi Kervin, I have figured it all out, however, I need the funds and the time. Right now I'm painting a car and as soon I do that and find the car I want i will begin. I will build one for some one else that has the car and the funds thru my business. The most likely cars are Mazdas and their pickups, Hondas and some ford cars and light trucks. Paul

You are looking at roughly $8,000.00 to $15,000.00 depending on how far and fast you want to go. It's not cheap, I had a Lady tell me that she could buy a lot of gas for that amount of money. I said, yes you are right, but you forgot the importance of the EV and that is " NO MORE GAS, OIL, BELTS, FILTERS, ETC!" So if you look at it that way the amount of money you spend to do this is minimal. Well she said, I could buy a new Hybrid, ah yes, but you still have to buy gas, oil, filters and so on. There can be many excuses to not turn your car into an EV. I own an auto repair business and I'm building one cause I don't want to feed the Bush and Arab oil machine. I would say that on the average the cost will be the higher number because of the renewed interest in EVs and so the cost will go up not to mention that because of price of oil today everything is costing more and more so I got to get with it before I can't afford it my self. This is exciting!
Hi Paul, Please keep us all posted on your work-- I'm sure there are many others who'd be interested in how you're building an EV, and possibly having you build one for them!

Thanks, you bet, it's good for all. There's even talk about going industrial by that I mean local deliveries, pizza, auto parts, news papers, well the list goes on. I'm excited to get going, If I can't get to mine right away I will take orders to do some one else's. It takes about 20 to 30 days to get the whole thing done but I thinks it's worth it! Thanks Paul
hi Paul, you go to "My Page" and right under the box where a picture should appear (or the outline if one doesn't use a photo) it should say "change my picture"--then follow the directions to upload a photo for your main page.

Hi all, well I guess with falling gas prices and the big three changing their tactics the interest for EVs is not very appealing right now. I'm still looking for my car anyway. I'll be so glad when I don't have to fuel up or do any of the so called services, 30, 60, 90k, and so on.
Paul,
This is great. I wish you all the best. You might check out the South Coast AQMD web site or call them. They periodically offer grants for retrofits. http://www.aqmd.gov/aqmd/funding.html

Sweet thanks, yes that would be great to get a grant or for some one well of enough to take the plunge as you know with the economy the way it is even our business is suffering putting a stumbling block to our EV. Thanks again I will check on that and get back to you! Paul
